Postdoctoral Position in Neuro-Embodied Basis of Physics Learning
The Future Learning Initiative at ETH Zurich is recruiting a motivated scholar for a postdoctoral position at the intersection of embodied cognition, physics education, and neuroscience. This interdisciplinary project will investigate: (1) whether the intuitive understanding of physics mediated by motor actions can be used to gain a better understanding of the formal principles of physics and mechanics; and (2) which embodied, cognitive, and neural mechanisms underpin this process. You will work alongside an interdisciplinary team of experts to investigate the interaction between motor skill development and conceptual understanding.
An ideal candidate would have a strong background in the learning sciences, a focus on embodied cognition and physics education as well as an interest in neuroscience research. Familiarity with a range of research methodologies in the learning sciences, including design-based and experimental methods, is expected. Familiarity with neuroscience methods is helpful, but not required. This position will include training in the relevant elements of neuroscience research.
